Position Description

Position Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Desktop Support Specialist to work full time in our Victoria office. The Desktop Support Specialist provides level 1 help desk support to clients using Microsoft Windows (XP, Vista, 7), MS Office and Linux.  Primary tasks include configuration and installation of workstations, creating and managing user accounts and troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.  Secondary tasks include creating and deploying operating system images, ensuring desktop systems are up to date, basic server administration, and managing the antivirus environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle incoming end user helpdesk support requests.
  • Provide exceptional customer service through strong technical skills and excellent communication.
  • Install an configure workstations including desktop computers, telephones, and networks
  • Ensure all workstations are functioning properly and available.
  • Create, deploy, and manage desktop system images.
  • Research software and hardware products that could improve management of systems or increase team productivity.
  • Vendor communications and product ordering.
  • Focused on resolutions and productivity while having fun with a team of professionals.  A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Continued development as a Desktop Support Specialist

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years experience working in a desktop support role
  • 1+ years experience administering and troubleshooting Active Directory
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Experience creating and deploying system images using a combination of tools including Sysprep, Ghost, MSDT, and Group Policies.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7)
  • Basic knowledge of Mac OS X
  • Knowledge of Office productivity software (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Solid understanding of basic network connectivity (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and more)

 Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experience with Linux and Apache web server
